“There is no such thing as a natural touch. Touch is something you create by hitting millions of golf balls.” -Lee Trevino
That quote is as true as gravity is strong.
Here’s another one that came to me as soon as I read it.
“There is no such thing as a natural born salesman. You become a “natural” by talking to and negotiating with thousands of people.” ~ Mike Sigers
Retweet it, blog about it, Facebook it, whatever you want, but it’s as true as gravity is strong.

I disagree as I wrote here: http://www.chrisconrey.com/birth-of-a-salesman/. I think that there is a certain level of innate skill born into each person for sales. Yes they still need to practice and work and grow at it, but no amount of shooting free throws is going to turn me into Michael Jordan.
I have no problem with you disagreeing Chris.
I spent 6 years in the US Armed Services to ensure you had the right to be wrong and say it out loud.
Thanks for the comment!
I enjoy everything you write Mike. This piece is no exception with these 13 words:
“You become a “natural” by talking to and negotiating with thousands of people.” ~ Mike Sigers
As a professional trumpeter, there is a rule of thumb regarding expertise and professionalism. You have to play a note at least 100,000 times if you want to have the confidence and certainty to perform it professionally under any circumstances, any time, any place. Any less than that and you’re still considered an amateur
Thanks for taking time to make my day, Dan!
Tell everybody in Greater Wichita I said “Hey!”
We lived there in ’84-’86 and absolutely loved it!
Love the above quote. Hearing people talk about someone who is a “born sales person” is like hearing fingernails on a chalk board because I know they don’t mean things like great listener, highly organized, systematic, great negotiator, problem solver, generous, dedicated, positive, and so on.
Thanks for joining in Jeff! Great additions you made.
