More Lies From Management

Over at Creating Passionate Users, Kathy Sierra has written a post outing some of the Top Management Lies. In keeping with current trends here, we’ll link leak her and hope she starts doing the same.

I’ve had my fair share of these in the past. None, in case anybody’s reading, from my current employment.

I’m also sure you’ve had some of these and I’d like to hear about ‘em.

I’ll start with a few and I need you to add yours in the comments or write your own post and ” link leak ” me.

We value your input.
…as long as it’s the same as our way of thinking.

We’re looking for people to think outside of the box.
… as long as it’s not too far.

Nobody’s getting raises this year.
… except the upper management.

We’re grooming you for VP of sales.
… unless we can get a son-in-law ready in time.

There’ll be a little something extra on your check next week.
… very little.

I want you to be my next Sales Manager.
… unless my boss wants one of his yes men.

You have another month like that and I’ll buy you something nice.
… like my new house at Troon North that your sales have bought for me !

We can’t afford to pay you what you’re worth.
… but we can afford a new Lexus for me.

This new policy makes it fair for everyone.
…except you schmuck employees that do all the work.

We can’t afford to continue to pay all of your medical insurance fees.
… you’ll have to pay them out of that 2% raise we gave you, while I’m on my ski vacation.
