Higher Sales Conversion Linked To Rubberneckin’

by Mike Sigers

Unless you’re website/blog is just a hobby, you’d like higher conversion rates on your calls to action.

Whether it’s to subscribe to your ezine, your RSS feed or your podcast, you’d like to get as many visitors as possible to click thru and complete the “sale”.

Me too.

While riding across the western third of Tennessee a couple of nights ago, with my sweetheart, listening to Sirius radio, I heard the Paul Oakenfold mix of Rubberneckin’ by Elvis Presley.

Bam ! As my man Emeril would say.

It hit me like a BBQ sandwich with too much hot sauce … the “Secret” to higher conversions is to cause some rubberneckin’ !

How do you cause rubberneckin’ ?

We’ll let Elvis himself tell it to us straight:

Stop! Look and listen baby, that’s my philosophy.
It’s called rubberneckin’ baby, but that’s alright with me.

Stop ! Look and listen. Simple ain’t it.

All this time we’ve been creating content, yet we haven’t taken the time to create it in all the modalities that our readers and listeners want or need.

Some want to look and some want to listen. Simple.

How much time does it take to create an mp3 of our posts ? Not very long.

I’m going to advise all of my corporate clients to start going thru their old posts and add an mp3 to each of them.

An update to their thoughts at the time. A new wrinkle. A new way to showcase an old, popular post. An interview with an authority figure from the topic mentioned.

There’s got to be a million reasons to add an mp3 to your most popular posts, not the least of which is the SEO juice it’ll add now and even more so in the future.

It’ll also differentiate you from your competition and that can’t hurt.

For higher conversions, cause a little rubberneckin’.

How about making the leap all the way to video Mike. I’d like to see if your hair looks anything like elvis’s.
