Friday Night Link Leak

Okay, it’s friday night and Jet Li’s got a new movie - War - that starts in about an hour, so instead of a lengthy post, how about a link leak to a great post on a great blog.
My blog buddy, Brad Shorr’s post about 4-Star sales people and their 4 qualities was a “winner, winner chicken dinner” as we say here in the country.
The line about how they take things personally, was a really good blog post idea starter for me, so you’ll see that one … soon.
Click thru and enjoy and if you don’t already, subscribe to his RSS feed and give him a chance to enlighten, educate and entertain you.
You gotta like a blog that concentrates on ACTION !

Hi Mike, Wow, thanks! I’m really flattered that you would mention my blog, especially because your blog has always inspired me.
Thanks Brad, that made my weekend !
You’re doing a great job and I really, really enjoyed that post.
Keep writing like that, especially posts with actionable messages. I loves me some action !
If i could interrupt your “love-in” for a minute….That was Bang on.
I just had a similar conversation with a buddy last week an we decided that the sales-world is divided into 3 neat categories:
1) the order takers- the guys who will bang on a few doors and uncover a few opportunities, so long as there is no real “dirty work: involved
2) The detail guys- These are the guys that you could give an existing account to and know that he will service them well, but probably won’t ever really find out what he’s missing out on and DEFINITELY won’t think on his feet creatively to secure the order on the spot
3) The salesman’s salesman - this is the guy who is personable, intelligent, a creative thinker and an empathetic guy who definitely believes that he is helping his clients do their job better, and can’t understand it when they don’t see it that way.
The hard part is figuring out who is which at the beginning. As a sales manager or business owner, it is my belief that our own day to day functions and routines will vary completely depending on what kind of salesmen we employ.
We sometimes have to ask ourselves what role WE would like in order to determine who we hire.
Hey Jamie,
Thanks for adding immensely to the conversation.
That was great input and a gives us something else to consider.
Keep helpin’ out, I appreciate it.
