Leaking, Linking & Loving It

Link Love

It’s been a little while since I dropped the Link Leak Virus or even gave away a Link Leak, so I’d better get back into the swing.

On my previous post, I received a comment from someone and went to their blog and was pleasantly surprised to find posts about sales and customer service. Two of my favorite things to talk about, read about and blog about.

The only thing left for me to do is drop the Link Leak Virus on her and hope she infects a few other worthy bloggers.

Also, I’ve met a new blogging friend who likes Link Leak, so we might as well drop one of those on him and his blog about publishing.

Now that I’m back in the swing, maybe I can keep the momentum and really crank out some posts and dish out some link love. Probably not, as I have some out of town meetings later this week and we have a new server that’s causing us some grief. Wish me luck.

BTW - that Link Love image at the top of this post came from this Link Leak.

BTW2 - for more info on the link leak virus or link leak, follow the yellow brick road.

What Is Salesmanship ?

Salesmanship

Have you ever had a customer buy WAY more product than he needs ? What would you do ? Would you leave him to his own devices, or would you hunker down and help ?

What if he had bought 10 times more than he could use in a year ? Then what would you do ?

Would you try to forget the whole thing, try and justify letting them drown in the pool of their mistake ?

Would you take back some of the surplus ? Or would you get in there and help that customer find new avenues for selling the surplus ?

I’d choose that route and here’s why.

If you can help the customer sell 10 times more than they need once, there’s a good chance that they’ll be able to sell somewhere close to that amount again.

They’ll also feel a unique bond with you, which should parlay into more sales in the future.

And you can use that same avenue with other customers in other areas and hopefully put a strain on your manufacturing division and become a sales hero.

The last time I had the good fortune to have a customer buy WAY too much product, I checked into a hotel and worked with them every day for a week.

Wrote new ads, built displays, came up with a few promotions, called radio stations and worked the phones and sales desk.

Within a week, we had sold all his stock. The customer was relieved and I was enlightened.

I’ve oversold several customers since then. Then I moved in and moved the product out the door !

THAT is salesmanship.

Blogtipping Day At Simplenomics

June 1, 2006 · Filed Under Blogging Simplified · 10 Comments

In case you haven’t noticed the sweet little badge over on my right sidebar that says, ” I Love Blogtipping “, this would be a great time to click it and see where it takes you.

Today is Blogtipping Day and I intend to tip you off towards some great reads, so here we go :

First I want you to take a ride over to Out of Bounds and read one of the few purely entertaining posts that my wife has ever written. Most of the time she’s educating, enlightening and all that other good stuff, but this post about Bubba was pure Kentucky gold !

Next, how about we go over and see if Paul Chaney is ready to debut his ” Blogs For Good ” network yet. If he’s not quite ready, bookmark him and keep going back til he is.

Third, since Blogtipping normally comes in threes, is a blog done by a new blog friend, James Brausch.

James is very technical, very research oriented and produces some software that could help your blogging life. His posts that deal with website promotion and webmastering are very detailed and very educational. The only flaw he has is an ugly shirt ! Looks like a Tommy Bahama I once had. My wife probably gave it to Goodwill and James may have bought it there !
