10 Post Ideas For Middle-Aged Executives Who Blog

by Mike Sigers on July 10, 2006

Blog About It !

Since I was challenged by Starbucker, a frequent commenter here at Simplenomics, to create this post, I’m going to do my best to come up with some meaningful post ideas and hope to not embarrass myself.

1) If I Had Known I Would Live This Long I Would Have …

Taken better care of my body from 18 to 30 ! I was awfully hard on this old skin and would have been a bit less abusive had I known how hard rolling out of bed each morning would be.

2) I Love My Job And Here’s How I Got To This Point …

The Providential Hand of God is all I can come up with, as I’m way too blessed to have done it myself.

3) The Best Advice I Ever Got Was …

Work hard and leave the results to God. He keeps score, you just keep scorin’ !

4) The Best Advice I Ever Gave Was …

Don’t get your honey where you get your money !

5) If I Could Change One Thing In My Past It Would Be …

The time I wasted in front of the television before I figured out it was keeping me from achieving my dreams.

6) The 10 Best Years Of My Life So Far Have Been …

The last 10 ! I’m 43 and am looking forward to the next 10 even more !

7) The Thing I Look Forward To The Most Is …

Waking up and seeing what’s in store for me each day. when you’re as blessed as I am, you never know just what good fortune awaits you each day.

8) The Best Skill I Ever Learned Was …

Reading ! Words are the keys to the vault. All you have to do is use the right ones in the right places.

9) The One Skill I Didn’t Learn And Now It Haunts Me Is …

Typing ! I thought the boys that took typing were sissies. Bad decision and I pay for it each day.

10) The Best Manager I Ever Met Was …

Still haven’t met him/her yet. I’ve met some good one’s, but there’s still a great one out there somewhere.

Now, I sped thru those, but YOU have to do a whole post on one topic and go in depth.

Or, maybe a bunch of you will just speed thru them like I did and we’ll see this go wide and deep.

Don’t forget to use a Trackback or a link to the original post …this one !

OK you guys are scaring me. Mike are you saying that 43 is middle aged?

I sure hope not because I’m closer to that than I’d like and I really still consider myself a pup! ;)

5 Mike Sigers 07.11.06 at 10:28 am

Thanks gblakney ! Those are nice additions and I appreciate the comment and your time.

Hey Chris - Sorry to mislead you.

Starbucker asked me to follow up my previous post with one by this title.

He had a friend who needed the inspiration.

I just happen to be 43 and I’m figuringing I’m 7 years from middle-agedness.

At 50, I’m gonna have to face up to that term, whether I like it or not.

But if you’re less than 43, you ARE a still a pup !

Enjoy your young days and remember …

Life’s Short - Blog Hard !

Thanks for sharing some tidbits about you! It’s good to know a few personal things about the bloggers you read. I’ll have to do something like this at my blog. Of course, I’d change the title! I’m a semi-middle age woman, ya know ;)

8 Mike Sigers 07.11.06 at 3:04 pm

Hey Maria - Make sure to alert me when you do. I’d love to read it and I’d kinda like to keep up with how many posts this spawns.

Trackbacks and links from all who do their own thang would make my day !

Thanks for coming by and for taking time to comment.

Mike ,I’ve posted my 10. And OK, I’m stretching this middle-age thing - I’m 46 but still feel like I’m 25 (most of the time). Rock on! Maybe we can change the title to “10 Post ideas for ANYONE who blogs”. All the best

Your answer to #9 intriques me. Do you feel more hampered by missing typing skills early on, or by the class mentality and attendant bigotry of deciding some activities oe people are ’sissy’ and some aren’t? Were there other opportunities that you missed besides Typing, because of peer pressure? Intriqueing …

11 Mike Sigers 07.11.06 at 7:02 pm

Thanks Starbucker, I’ll go check it out.

I think we could do several posts giving people ideas, as they seem to be in demand.

12 Mike Sigers 07.11.06 at 7:12 pm

Hi Brad - Bigotry means intolerance and I wasn’t being intolerant, I was judgemental…I was also 14-16 at the time.

I feel like I missed out on learning a skill, the judgement got better and I’m much more tolerant, as you can tell, since I’m being nice in answering your silly-ass remark and not blowing you out of the water.

From your desire to be inflammatory, I’m assuming you were one of those sissy-boys who took typing and now want to try and get even with those that made fun of you … but we did it to your faces and you choose to argue anonymously.

Yes, I missed several opportunities in my life due to stupidity, intolerance and peer pressure.

Thanks for coming by and for provoking the conversation.

I hope you get in a happier state of life and lose the need to look at things from the argumentative point of view.

Thanks for the great list Mike (I know, I’m about 10 days late on reading my feeds). I loved your ideas and am going to save them for those days of “bloggers block!” Thanks to Starbucker for suggesting it!

You’re welcome Tom and I look forward to your posts !
